We had a special guest Coach last Tuesday as Bill was unable to attend.  Gail Hillyer from Portland and Northwest Harmony Chorus in Vancouver taught us some basic music theory about intervals among other things.  She worked with us on how to find our starting notes and useful tips on how to practice more efficiently using free tuning apps.  The one she uses is SoundCorset, which is available for both Android and Apple phones.  Using this, we worked on how to see if we are keeping on pitch, how to find problem areas in our singing and how to fix them.  We also learned how to highlight the pitch note in our music as a way to check when practicing if we are staying on pitch and if not, where we might be dropping.  Then we sang some tags to illustrate intervals.  There was lots of laughter and fun as new singers and experienced ones alike learned some new ideas to improve our singing.  Sixteen of us were able to attend the coaching session but only a few were left when we remembered to take a photo with Gail!
